P.O. Box 4203 New York, NY 10163 212- 933-0688 Fall, 2007. Greetings to all performing arts members. This fall has been a time for promotion and setting future goals. As you know, the "Sound in Sight" album is on CDBaby, and other online outlets. In the interest of promoting the album within the NFB, the board voted to allow NFB chapters and states to sell the album and split the profits. So far, deals have been made with the New York City chapter, and the Westchester New York chapter. The CD was also sold at the New York state convention in November. President Dennis Holston spoke to the state division of Parents of Blind Children about the album. The album was also sold at the Wisconsin state convention, where board member Beth Alred was on hand. The NFB National office sent out a press release about the album to all their media contacts. The division has made progress in promoting the album to the public at large. Donna Hill, an artist on the album, has been selling the album in Pennsylvania. The President has enlisted the help of the CSB Management group, based in Georgia, to help with wide scale promotion. CSB has been working in collaboration with the president and board member Seria Chatters to spread the word about the album around the southern states. After contacting the Mayor's office of disabilities in Tampa Florida, and notifying other southern based contacts, their promotion efforts expanded to the North Eastern states, where the president and singer Lisa Ostrow will assist in the effort. President Holston and Vice President Brooke Fox are putting a package together for the New York Mayor's office of disabilities. While the album promotion is going well, there are a few things that need more work. The division thought that they would be able to present a concert featuring artists on the album, and other local artists. Due to scheduling issues, the concert effort has been pushed back to sometime in 2008. The division's other project, the Music of the Movement, was also pushed back as well. The Music of the Movement is a collection of NFB song remakes. This was also due to scheduling issues, and the division will focus resources to the album and other projects for the time being. As 2008 enters, the president is working on goals for the New Year. He will be turning some of the focus of the division to some acting projects. He will also be putting together the structure of the performing arts scholarship system, and the board will be planning for activities for the 2008 summer convention, such as speakers, and fund raising items. The division will be adding another album to its promotion list. Lisa Ostrow, a singer on the Sound in Sight album, just released her solo album called "Unconditional". The Performing Arts Division will be selling her album as well as the Sound in Sight album. If there is any issue that you would like the division to take up, or if you have any question, or would like to be involved, please contact President Dennis Holston. Acting Secretary: Mindy Jacobsen. President: Dennis Holston. Performing Arts Division.
